Nathan Hale

As the noose was slipped 'round Nathan Hale's neck he uttered this exclamation:

"I regret that I have but one life to give for my nation!"

But to his executioner he whispered an aside and had this to say:

"Between you and me, I'd just as soon be fishin' on Nantuckett Bay!"

LOL Maybe we can resurrect Nathan (and the executioner) and take them on a charter fishing trip. I wonder what Hale would have said if he'd seen a Goliath Grouper. Great choice of entry for the contest, Bob. You always give me a laugh with your humorous poems :) Love, Carolyn

Great work about Nathan Hale..Yes, most anyone in those circumstances would rather have been fishing..Enjoyed reading this rainy afternoon..We were under tornado watch but it did not seem to come close to our area today..We got a good watering from the weather but some died in Alabama..Thanks for stopping by..Sara
