Christmas 1992: Lucy cat guarding Nativity scene under the Christmas tree.
They went to the Manger that night,
those Wise Men who came from afar,
to worship the baby by light
of Bethlehem's bright glowing Star.
The animals, drawn unto Him,
soon gathered around there to see
the holy babe sleeping within,
and shared in the great mystery.
And so did our dear Lucy cat
at Christmas time, so unforeseen-
for hours by the Christmas tree sat
to guard the Nativity scene.
She'd stare at the babe in the hay
along with each figure beside.
It seemed something drew her to stay;
for hours she'd sit there wide-eyed.
Like animals, drawn unto Him
that met 'round the Manger to see,
our Lucy seemed led from within
to guard the sweet babe by the tree.
