Letting go of selfish yearnings Turning it over to God’s will for me Leaves me feeling fulfilled with purpose Knowing that God has a plan and His way Will bring me, not to simply good, but to best ~ Saying good-bye to my own ways And taking up my cross and following The One who knows where I need to go Even when I want to swerve off the path And go my own way, which is always destructive ~ Leaving my own ideas and plans Seeking God’s will in everything I think Gives me renewed peace that I’ve done the right thing And given God the reverence that should be His Even when I don’t feel like I want what He has for me ~ Departing from the wide road I know Will bring me to that oh, so narrow way Where God is giving me the answers to prayer And showing me the way, the truth and the life Real Love, the Savior who is my Lord Jesus Christ ~ Withdrawing from my greedy wants for myself Brings me to the One who knows my true heart And can make me into someone who is worthwhile A friend of Jesus, the One who went to that cross at Calvary And saved my soul from death, hell and the grave ~ Going out of the way to stay away from my ego Enlightens my soul with serenity that is faithful To encourage me and grace me with a joy that changes My heart from darkest night to the most heavenly light Thanks to God giving up my will is the answer to my prayers The Epiphany That Changed Your Life Forever Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Chantelle Anne Cooke Written on 10/14/2019 Entered in Contest: August 8, 2022
