10/14/2024 for My Truths Poetry Contest sponsored by Constance La France

When I was a little boy,  I hunted down frogs, trying to catch them,  but just before I nabbed them, they would hop away.  Could it be, maybe, it is the same with truth?  I cannot hope to catch it. It's an elusive mystery, ever to evade my searching grasp,  and it cannot be found outside, but only exists internally.  It may not be the truth others try to impose -  although they may live by their own gospel.  No, my guide comes from inside,  and what is true today, may not be true tomorrow.  What is true for me, may not be for you.  I abandon the quest for truth,  and leave fleeting frogs free, finding faith inside.

Congratulations on your winning work. Way to go. There are some truths that are true, valuable and right always. The Bible tells us truths that are true today and forever. Thanks for sharing a little about yourself with us. Sara K

Great thoughts here, David which men have pondered throughout time and place. Perceived "truth" is why there are so many differing religions in the world. Absolute "truth" on the other hand has to be the truth that one puts his faith and trust and soul into. Thanks for sharing; best of luck in the competition.

That's the problem with "truth"...it can be enlightening...or devastating. A great piece, David.

Thanks Jim! I would say that's true. Honestly, sometimes I don't want to know the truth.

Wow youv written a very wise and honest poem for this theme! I agree with “ and what is true today, may not be true tomorrow. What is true for me, may not be for you. ” couldnt have said it any better. Sometimes truth, is perceived as one thinks, it all varies! What a profound and deeply moving poem! I love this! Best wishes for the contest! Sending you light always!

An increasing number of people are rejecting traditional religion. Often they turn to trusting their own gut, which as you point out is unreliable. Me? I found the truth some forty years ago and my life changed for the better. Gonna stick with it
