My Trembling Soul (For Joy)

So now again with day I wake
New mercy from my maker to take
And for your love to feel my ache
And beg his mercy not forsake
      My trembling soul for you

Down on my knees I kneel to pray
Rinse anew by the promise of day
My lips linger that I should say
Lord, prosper now your gem of clay
    My trembling soul bids you

I rise to see the landscape green
So sweetly dressed in the sun's bright sheen
But saw your face there hang between
Earth and sky, like a shining queen
      My trembling soul greets you

Heaven has God, and earth has you
My soul, a flower, has its dew
And love its binding work to do
For God's greatest gift ... so like you
Trembles still my soul, to joy for you
