My Soul, My Heart, and Me
I heard the soft whispers within my mind
speaking like gentle waves washing ashore
My soul was asking what it longed to know,
a question that no earthly ear could hear,
"Why am I always aligned with your heart?
I hear voices that are saying, 'heart and soul.'
And why is your heart always mentioned first?
Am I not as worthy as the one that is beating?
Does what I feel have no meaning to you?"
There was a lesson waiting to be told,
one learned long ago when my soul was born,
but somehow lost in the depths of me,
as seashells drift to lie buried in oceans and seas.
A frown was etched upon my brow,
for jealousy is not a trait I wish to harbor.
I felt my heart stirring with a quickened pace
and knew its voice was longing to be heard.
I listened as my heart and soul came face to face.
In whispers that no earthly ear could hear
and with patience, these words to my soul it said,
"We are one and the same in every way
that tides flow and ebb in oceans and seas,
equal in everything we feel and do.
So, when the tide rises, and we hear its call
we'll ascend together from the depths
and in synchrony we'll whisper to our person
in a voice that no earthly ear could hear."
I smiled, knowing how well that conversation went.
Now, each time I see waves rushing to shore,
or the moon wax and wane giving way to the dawn,
I have inner peace and I'm completely content.
Waking each morning to welcome another day,
we sing in harmony that no earthly ear could hear,
my soul, my heart, and me.
