My Son and I
Times have changed
My son was small;
Asked many questions
Answered them all.
I had patience
His friend to be,
Counsellor, guide
Best of my ability.
He oft would say,
“Dad how is this done?
I don’t understand
I feel so dumb.”
“Not to worry my son
As long as dad is alive
I’ll show it to you
You must learn to survive.
Will help every time you fail
It doesn’t matter
You must learn to prevail.
I have patience, son
I love you so much
Mother’s busy in the kitchen
Preparing our lunch.”
Those were times
When deep in work lost,
My son would disturb
With a question he tossed.
I would make it a point
To show he meant more,
Had to give him time
His knowledge to score.
Years fleeted by
He grew up fast,
Now, done the level
To manhood was cast.
Times changed
Tech all advanced,
Phones became smart
With technology enhanced.
Google and AI
Now world ruled,
Answered questions
Which I was not schooled.
Once I asked my son
“How is this done?’
He said to me,
“I had shown it once.
I don’t have the patience
I don’t have the time,
Busy with my thesis
Will show you at nine.”
