My Son

Don’t grow up my son Because there is nothing in life to be won The sparkle, wonder and innocence in your eyes Make me wonder if that’s how the Almighty spies You see the world as it is, all colourful and happy bright Once you grow up, all the people including me will tint it with black and white I don’t know if in life I will give you all But I will make sure to pick you up whenever you fall Sometimes when you are far away from my eyes The pain is so overwhelming that’s the time when even the sky cries But alas, I want to see you grown up all big and strong So that I get to know as a father I did nothing wrong
