My Singing Pussy Cat
I had a little pussy cat
That used to play a tune
On a penny whistle
As it sang to the moon.
It wore stripey trousers
With a funny hat
That said it was king
Of all the other cats.
It had a best friend
A little gray mouse
They played hide and seek
All around the house.
It sent me a letter
One sunny day
To say it was leaving
It was going away.
I saw it on the tele
Doing hand a stand
As it sang the lead
For a rock'n' roll band.
I didn't buy another cat
I got an alligator instead
It plays the banjo
And it sleeps on my bed.
It wears a big muzzle
Just so it can't bite
So i can't be eaten
In the middle of the night.
So, Oh dear me
Would you believe that
And it all happened because
I lost my singing pussy cat.
