My Return
While I slept
the world carried on without me
flowers bloomed- children grew
the world began to emerge
from its enforced hibernation
but they greeted each other with unrest
with accusations
I wanted to see happiness
and relief and gratitude
for those who survived
I had dreams in my slumber- nightmares
now I look for hope, for peace, for a united people
but I find hate and anger in its place
we are one race- the human race-
we live, we die just the same
Look I want to say- I survived-we survived!
celebrate the now- the life- believe just believe.
Thank you God, Amen.
