My Response To Rumi
Why Rumi, you're intriguing me, with a reason so profound.
For your premise and it's remedy portrays you devil's advocate.
Who counters postulations, with a different point of view.
And offers meditation, to question one's beliefs.
Mankind desires healing, though save his self neglect.
To sacrifice well being, risks a needless brush with death.
Your prognosis is uncertain, while healing, comforts needs.
Inflicting illness on oneself, whichever way, you choose,
Is certainly a paradox, where reason seeks the truth.
An insight of this notion, how vaguely it's construed.
Was to question it's morality, and if, one does approve
By helping others to recover, whenever they fall ill,
Is not what you intended, by what you did propose.
But to suggest self administration, to satisfy desire..
Indeed it's pure delusion, where science is concerned,
The theory is, keep healthy, remember Darwin's words
The survival of the species, is what's desired most.

"If you desire healing
Let yourself fall ill
Let yourself fall ill"
Jalaluddin Rumi.
