My One Prayer
The sprouted seed
Grown from need
Because of what I had to be.
Getting strong from being beat
Refusing to fall after being told I’m only meat.
So now I can be what no one was for me.
Encouraging, hopefully, or at least some small light.
Returning hope to those who lose sight.
Because though I had help through some of what life brings
I remember canyon walls when I was lost simply echoing.
The cracked lips, the baking sun
Looking for guidance from anyone.
In a valley knowing nothing but heat.
Smoldering sandstone under my feet.
And yes, though I eventually found my own way,
Being hopelessly lost in yourself isn’t a thing on my nemesis I would pray.
It was hard to find a way out
And though it was dry I still nearly drowned.
It wasn’t as though I was without
Plenty of waters, they’re simply called self doubt.
So I hope to be a guide, or at least show some ways to some eyes
You’ll at least say I tried, in my attempts there are no lies.
Because I know how hard it can be.
So I will strive to be what no one was for me.
