Notes About The Poem

My Old Hometown

When, for comfort, I yearn,
is there a place I can return?
The hometown in my head
has been replaced by something else instead.
So, solace can't be drawn -
my hometown, now, is gone.

Thanks, Andrea. Yes, yours is great, right along the same wavelength...as I think about it, I feel like I've seen a kind of nostalgic theme in other poems that both you and I have written.

You said it perfectly, David...love the thought that our old hometown is merely in our heads; but then memories provide many a comfort in life. Congrats.
