My New Year's Wish For All My Friends

Soon it will be Christmas And shortly after a New Year will be born May the coming year bring you inner peace Strength and understanding of who you are May new doors open and you find your true self worth Learning to take pride in your own individuality May you live each day with a joyful optimistic heart Choosing a cup that is half full not half empty May you find tolerance and understanding And strive to reach out and attain your dreams Remember always that love does not mean dependency That promises are given in a moment of time That the future may change or override Kisses are not contracts, nor presents love Growth is the acceptance of defeat Not with the tears and tantrums of a child But with grace and dignity of an adult Not waiting for someone to give you flowers Willing on barren ground to plant your seed And tender it with all you hold within Then as you watch your garden grow give thanks For without the sunshine of your joy Nor the water of your tears it can never thrive Its splendour is all you hold within Without your belief in its worth how can it bloom To fill the world with its own unique poetic perfume.

quite a poetic interlude, as the garden grows, with tears renewed, a unique poetic perfume...
