Searching outside of myself
Far and wide
Looking into the eyes and souls of others
Seeking answers
Looking for my missing part
Always sensing an absence

Awakening one day with tears in my eyes
A complete realization
I had found my missing piece
Or rather
My missing piece had found me

Silent warm tears streamed down my cheeks
An inner heat grew in my belly
My heart expanding
Opening ...and opening
To me
To the inner beauty and light within
A deep inhale and a soul embrace like no other
A new beginning

My whole being knew that no one
Could take this completeness away from me
I phoned my daughter
“Baby, I found my missing piece”
She received me and listened
I know it sounds odd, but I had to tell you

She hugged me through the phone
Knowing that I did not want to leave
The here and now...not yet

Fully alive, my inner beacon started beeping
I traveled through space and dove deep
Into the bluest blues of ocean’s depths
The creatures of land and air surrounding me

Sunlight glinted off the eye of my companion
A majestic white hawk
Her gaze spoke of lifetimes past and present
She vibrated with ancient wisdom

I flew with her caressing her moist white feathers with my cheek
As she glided with me to realms unknown
Setting me down on dusty red earth
Saturated with the soul wounds of Elders
Which filled the air with their songs
I heard wailing, guttural notes and heartache
Dispersing words
Whispering colors into the thin air

Opening my eyes
I grasped tightly onto spiky bristles
Gripping as hard as I could with my arms and legs
I rode
Thunder and sweat
Hooves and horns and commotion
Dusty circles of light danced around me

The Migration was in full force
Clinging with all my might, I journeyed
Capturing roughhewn nuances of all that moved
She reared and plunged forward
My chariot, the mighty Wildebeest

Immersed in an immense wave of life
Crossing the parched dry plains
Seeking survival, quenching rain and sustenance
A blur...
Life at full force
With all its primal energy
Unlike anything I had ever experienced

My heart exploded with joy
Knowing I would not ever trade
This life of mine
This ability to weave threads of compassion and light with others
For anything

For we are all naked ~ alone ~ and beautiful
Here to share our hearts and souls
With our earthly and galactic tribes
Giving each other an arena
To be heard, loved, honored and appreciated

In gratitude to be a part of this
Pulsating flow of life
I bow to you

Your beautiful poem resonates with love and connection to all, and the part that touched my heart the most, was where you are flying beside the majestic hawk and your cheek touched her feathers. Dearest Susan, born from many lifetimes, my time-travel companion, my spirit sister, your soulful verse, like the wings of the white hawk, brought me to the center of your awakening. I traveled with you across planes of spiritual, primal, physical, emotional and imaginative energies. I rode the "chariot" with you, thrilled to be part of the "Migration" as found your "missing piece". I felt your tears, joy, awe and discovery as if they were my own. Your artwork is astounding! A beautiful reflection of you! As fluid in color, love, spirit, inspiration and exploration as your profound poetry. A rich, fulfilling experience. Thank you for your open heart and for the fantastic journey. May the mighty Wildebeest ever kick up their collective hooves. My warmest wishes, love and hugs sent to you on the majestic glide of white wings.. ~Susan

Oh Susan …. To be your spirit guide and time traveling companion is such a gift indeed. I can’t imagine being in this realm without you now. Thank you for the gift of you - and seeing me, really seeing me and feeling me and feeling my words. It means the world to me. I am thrilled we can journey together. Your insight and depth always amaze me. I know you’ve lived so many lifetimes as well and traveled to the highest highs and the lowest lows that anyone could. Not only have you traveled to those places, you’re able to describe them in such visual, emotional and spiritual detail. Thank you for the gift of you my friend and for all of your comments and lovely vision. Love and whispers of light delivered on soft feathers of white wings . Susan xx

Hi my multitalented friend, Susan! I love your painting, especially the pronounced jaw & cheekbones. The poem itself reveals what you, as a person, are made of; you haven't changed a bit since I read your first poem ~ your love, empathy, and admiration towards nature and human beings are as strong and sincere as ever. You bond with ease and are capable of sharing the highs & lows of others. That makes you a friend in a million! This poem is worthy of a fav! Warm regards & hugs my friend // paul

Dear Susan, I really enjoyed your art work both in painting and poetry. You have many great insights into that self-discovery that so many of us seek out. Some never find the answers, some realize they ask the wrong questions, some don't care and there are those who discover their purpose. I loved how you ultimately know it is an inward journey. Excellent Read! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Dear susan, i dont think iv said it enough, how much i admire your poetic skills, the way you weave words and how you paint imagery is so creative and evocative too! I love poems that stir emotions and get me to feel while also such brilliant diction is used! This is so very descriptive and so touching and yes we are all embracing this pulsating flow of life, the highs and lows and sometimes we need to take a step back to find the missing parts of heart and beyond, to find inner voice, what a profound poem! You are one of my fave poets on soup! And this poem is a fave for me

Your poem is a profound exploration of self-discovery, spiritual awakening, and the interconnectedness of all life. It begins with the poet's search for a missing piece, an absence deeply felt and sought in the external world. The journey of seeking answers outside oneself is a universal experience, and the poet captures this beautifully through the imagery of looking into "the eyes and souls of others."
