My Love Floats On the Sea
My letter, written on a parchment sail; behold,
it bobs on waves of the sea, each word a jewel
meant to bring him home, if he chooses to unfold
the love sonnet written, or am I just a fool?
Foolish to think my words will survive the sailing
Will he care enough to read my heart's confessions
I pray the tradewinds will be kind and prevailing
so that he receives my love's heartfelt expressions
For then he will know I'd rather face cruel death
without him. Can he see ink blurs from my spilled tears
Since he left, my life is nothing but wasted breath
Each day my note is unanswered, compounds my fears
My love floats upon your waves. Take care, restless sea
Find him quickly, and bring him safely back to me
