My Last Pet

"I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it"
Quote by: E. E. Cumming

I run some water But your bowl is put away Age or habit, I forget You went to your grave Your spirit remains, contained My pet had his special place In my heart and mind No more will I clean hike stains Nor dispense your meds in cheese Physical body Now buried in the small grave His feisty spirit lingers

Constance, Thanks for letting me know that I placed in your contest. It is not an actual picture of him, but it is a near likeness. I lost my female Chihuahua first she had heart problems from a pup something that goes along with being a Chihuahua, then my cat passed who was probably around 20 years old, then the male Chihuahua who had heart disease as well. All in less than a year's time. Sara

Gershon, I think about him every day. I had a female which was so sweet. She and I got along just fine. I miss her also. The above one was something else, but he had a special place in my heart. Sara

John, I know you understand the pain. I was hoping for 20 years out of my Chihuahuas, but they did not make it. I miss them every day. I appreciate the visit and sharing of your loss. Sara

Michael, Yes, I remember reading about your pet. It is so hard to have one pass. I lost three in a row in one year's time. Each had a special place in my heart. I appreciate the honor of you faving this one. Sara

Sara, I am so sorry for your sad loss. Those Chihuahuas are incredibly cute, despite the fact that they are tiny barkers.

Sotto, My little male Chihuahua died awhile back. He and the female had a genetic heart problem. I have just about adjusted to the loss. In the last two weeks, I picked up the water bowl and washed it. I think that was the last of the items that needed to be handled, but still I will think I need to run him/her some fresh water or put down some food. I do miss them. Thanks for the prayers. Sara

I'm sorry for your deep loss Sara, our precious babies delight us, and break our hearts. I am going to remember you in my prayers. I don't do well with the loss of fur babies, and my heart aches for you. God bless you, may His comforting arms surround you sweet friend. <3

Thank you for your sympathy, BJ. My last one the male died a few months back. I am still having to adjust. Our daughter has a very large dog that comes down to see me each day and I give her a few pats on the head. It is not the same as my little on lying next to me when I would sit down. Your visit was uplifting. Sara

Kim, The female was not a yapper, but she would let us know if something was going on that should not be. However, when the male showed up, he was more of a yapper, and he would stir her up then we had two yappers. Thanks for the visit. Sara

Victor, My female Chihuahua was the sweetest little dog that ever was. My male Chihuahua which someone just left at my house or around my house. He showed up at my house anyway. He was a character. He had a special place in heart because he survived on his own around 2 weeks or more until he came to me. He would not let anyone get near him to start with. Anyway, I miss the both of them. Chihuahuas have a tendency to have heart defects or heart problems as they age which happened to both of them. Sara
