You wait for me,
in the sweet nest I made for us;
this abode is base camp and our roost,
to us a mansion grand . . .
but, in reality it is an aging dwelling,
with crooked floors, creaks and groans, and drafts in winter;
but, it is my own safe harbor,
with you waiting . . .
O, sweet kitty,
now, you are my family left;
all the rest have gone to Heaven above,
even, my elderly cat . . .
taking unconditional love no human could return;
when baby left it shattered my heart to pieces,
then- dad, mom, my love, and my grandma;
now, there is you . . .
when I drop anchor,
you are waiting in the window;
true- my home is weather stained with tears,
my soul a garden ravaged . . .
but your love soothes the scars in my mind and heart,
in our sanctuary there is peace and tranquility;
our home beyond a shelter from life,
but, where two souls unite . . .
