My Hero

‘Twas he, ‘Twas he, Who fought for the free, ‘Twas he, ‘Twas he, Was how a man should be. He was betrayed by his own, For them to keep their freedom’s, He taught honor through his sacrifice, In a way no one could possibly be shown. He is my hero, my father, my keeper, Who gave me breath and gave me life, I will always miss him, Time sure has shown, That a little of my heart that morning left with him, And now it is not whole. One day I pray it hurts less, And my heart begins to rest, I know you are looking upon me, I know that you can see, What you truly mean to me. I promise I am looking after Mom, Just like I told you I would, You would be proud of me Dad, That I kept my word. I love you with all of my heart, But it’s time to let you go, I have a beautiful family, Who I wish you would’ve been able to show, That you are the most honorable man they know. I need you to release your grasp, That you hold within me, Because I need to show my family, How my love can truly be.
