My Heart
my heart
has been broken
by
common circumstance
looking
this way
instead of
that
blindsided by an
idea
that never made it
back
from a night
of glorious
loving
when you told me
it would last
dancing
in the valley
of rhymes
naked
blinded
scintered
by a sun
that never
set
I buried
the answer
in a hollow
question
carved a path
you couldn’t
follow
aimed towards
a vein
punctured in
perpetuity
while circumstance
snuck up
behind me
and kicked me
in the ass.
