My Favorite Poet

I have a sacred longing to read your exquisite words, to memorize by heart my favorite passionate lines. Those ardent words lift my spirits to beyond the ethers. Your capacity to enchant my heart surpasses all others and leaves me with a breathless yearning, compelled to read more. Your golden pen expresses such impassioned feelings, I too percieve, that are buried deep within my sensitive soul. As you avow a continuity of ardor that burns brightly, you illuminate my senses with a brilliance unfathomable. To comprehend the depth of your poetry is to try to relate the secrets of our unknown universe in the shining stars light years into the past that form our future. I retire now to become lost in the magnificence of you! 9-11-18 *Lord Byron

I'm glad I stopped by here and didn't read the poet's name until the end. Was trying to imagine which one could captivate you so and smiled when I saw Lord Byron's name. The British Romantic Period generated some of the finest poetry that is still read and admired today. An excellent tribute to a master poet! Hugs, Carolyn

He is a marvel Wendy. I visited a used bookstore in Sydney Australia and found an early copy of Lord Byron's poetry. What a find! He started me on a journey to begin writing my own poetry. I have always expressed myself by writing, but poetry is now my passion. Thank you Wendy. : )

I agree with Paul. What a beautiful tribute, and if only the writers of such exquisite poetry could know how it touches the human heart, .....it would give life purpose and such value just to know :)

I enjoy reading different poets lord Byron is one of my favorites too. Marianne Moore was a poet that really got me hooked in to writing poetry when I was a freshman in high school. You did an awesome tribute. May our words be just as memorable to some one else.

Thank you so very much Dave. Many poets are familiar with his shorter poems like 'She Walks in Beauty'. I love 'Remind Me Not Remind Me Not'. For him to be remembered after so many years is a testament to his enduring fame. I think every poet would love being remembered for their poetry for that is where their passion lies. : ) xxoo

The classic romantic poet Lord Byron who died at the young age of 36 (1788–1824). His poetry inspired me to begin writing poetry four decades ago. Thank you Matthew. Maybe I better include his name in a note with my poem. : )
