Mummy This Is Yummy

I am ready, big day today, my first meal, And what I smell to my taste does appeal, You have both been so busy preparing, Love the deal that the three of us sharing. Oh, it looks exciting, 3 bowls I see, Never underestimate me, Which one shall we try mummy The orange one looks so yummy, I’m in my chair, and wearing my bib, Daddy you have my best pose, hip hip Hurray, do I hold the spoon, Or is it still a little too soon. Hey dad not the aeroplane trick, That was your era – hic, hic, hic, I have hiccups, please take the video later, Dirtied my bib, thanks mom, that’s better. First taste, first dish, mm, tastes good I’m glad, Could I have another, oh that tipped a tad, Looked away, sorry guys, now a third, Slowly please, I nearly chocked. I keep cleaning my mouth with my bib, No more thank you, see my lips, They are closed tight, and my eyes. Say don’t proceed past go, No more, I also have rights you know. Thank you from the depths of my heart, You are both the greatest mom and dad, Can we go hiking tomorrow, love been Strapped on dads back and mom Takings shots of every scene. I think I would like to remain anonymous, And so my stories will stay unique, never with Anyone else’s synonymous. This way no hearts will ever be broken or stolen, The stork till I know better, had you well chosen. Dedicated to my 5 month old grand-daughter.

Oh what a cute dedication ! You can step into the shoes of a child so well..... dear Jenny. I could see in my imagination the whole scene of the baby sitting on her baby chair and taking her first solid meal. I can visualize her stained bib and smeared face and hear her hiccups... Simply lovely!

Love this, Jennifer. I can just see that snotty faced little sod… I mean ‘cute little fella’ sat in his high chair, smothered in ‘pulp’. If you find yourself with five minutes to spare, look for ‘Nothing Is As Good As They Say It Is’ by Sparks on YouTube. It’s about a twenty two HOUR old baby who wants to go back where he came from. Something in your poem just reminds me of that song. In case you’re wondering, that’s a complement because the song is great, as is your poem. Terry

As I read this, I'm reminded of my 4 year old great nephew's excitement when he talked; this sounds just like him with numerous big breaths in-between. I'll bet she's adorable!!!

This is such a sweet joyful glance into a baby's adventure of a first meal, such adorable images you painted with your pen! I love it! It brought back so many sweet memories of my own babies, leaving me kind of nostalgic, I wish to visit back in time and see it all again! Thank you for writing this incredibly precious poem. Hugs to you Jennifer, I hope that you are doing well, and very blessed :) <3
