Mouth the Words
We wallow in the shadows of our creations,
paying homage to a technological God.
While seeking truths hidden in the darkness,
hopes overshadow reality,
creating a Disney-like fantasy world.
Mesmerized by the neon glitter of our cities,
we overlook the lack of decency and compassion.
And through our silence, we condemn ourselves
to a world without morals;
besieged by Man's malevolent personality.
And we pay a price for our silence,
fueling corrupt politicians, thugs, and organized crime.
Bending a knee, we openly pray one day out of seven
yet claim to be people of faith.
Like deaf and dumb actors playing silent roles
in the theater of life,
we're oblivious to what is happening around us.
We've like ubiquitous white noise, an incoherent hiss;
never raising above our self-imposed silence.
It takes courage to speak out
for what is right,
and not merely mouth the words
during prayer.
