Mouth the Words
We live in the shadow of our creations,
paying homage to a technological God.
While seeking truths hidden in the darkness,
hope overshadows reality;
creating a Disney-like fantasy world.
Mesmerized by the neon glitter of gilded cities,
we overlook their lack of decency and compassion.
Through our silence, we condemn ourselves
to a world without morals;
besieged by Man's malevolent personality.
And we pay a price for that silence;
fueling corrupt politicians, thugs, and organized crime.
Bending a knee, we openly pray one day out of seven;
yet claim to be people of faith.
Like oblivious actors playing silent roles
in the theater of life;
we're juxtaposed with what is happening around us.
We've like ubiquitous white noise, an incoherent hiss;
never rising above our self-imposed silence.
It takes courage to speak out
for what is right;
and many of us only mouth the words
during silent prayer.
