Mourning Has Broken

Mourning has broken Mourning has broken... my spirit and will Despair I have swallowed... my bitterest pill I never imagined... my soul needed to purge So with anguish burning... I compose this dirge I've had spectral visions... haunt me in my dreams Spinning my meditations... into nightmarish schemes My pitiful illusions... scatter in depth of night Mourning has broken... darkness conquers daylight John Derek Hamilton October 10,2019

John I almost mist it the spelling, so, I'm glad your mourning has broken.

You, the lyricist would choose a play on the spelling of morning. It's so apropos, John. Sorry I missed it in October, but I wasn't around much two months ago.

Hey WW you spotted it first read, I guess you have good taste in poetry, I kind of felt this one was good, but you just never know how a piece will be received. I thought because of it's somber and gloomy mood it would not be well received, guess I was wrong!!

When I saw the title I immediately thought of the Cat Stevens song from the early 70's, Nicely written poignant piece, John. Congrats on POTD. John
