Mountain Meditation

I hike in silence. My feet follow the rhythm of my breath which is molded on the contour of the mountain. I think only of breathing and walking, breathing and walking until I reach the summit and realize: I spent the morning in meditation, every step a prayer. From my first collection Porous Land (Spartan Press, 2019)

How beautiful you make this sound - you portray a serene walk although fast, it allows you to meditate and pray. Bless you Agnes, Jennifer.

Wonderful, in every way. Almost wish I had a mountain nearby. Our mountains have been reduced to hills, and the park is closed for the time being with covid. So I live vicariously through your poem... xomo!

Thank you, Maureed. We don't have mountains here; that was written during a trip to Colorado
