Mother May I
Mother May I
Go outside into the light
Shuttered windows and doors
I can not breath
Inside this house
The Sun light is on my mind
Flowers and trees and spring like weather
It should be boy meets girl on an open field
But I can not breath
Inside this house
Mother May I
Go against the grain and the law and take a walk in the park
And say hello to the crabgrass and burgeoning nascent of life
My detour from the box stores will be short
And I will keep my distance from the dark woods
Mother May I
Go to the top of the mountain and tell what I see
Mother May I
Go to the top of the mountain and tell what I see
That the promise land looks further away
That the dark woods are encroaching
That it is cold as hell outside
But I can not breath
Inside this house
