More Than Improbable

Long ago, a man said I was special. His aspiration was to be a leader. He vowed I’d be invited to his island country as his guest when this happened; I guessed this to be improbable - an empty promise! June 1, 2020 for Silent One's "The Promise" Poetry Contest

Empty promises have a far reaching impact if you looked forward to them and believed in them. I like the way you typed this and the way you executed each word making an impact.

I promise to read all of your poems lol. In truth I do, it’s mostly in clutches and I wish I had more time to comment. Take care, Richard

I can relate to broken promises Andrea. I have been lied to far too many times by too many men I believed in. I have a mate now who is not perfect but he is honest and he is perfect for me. A good Etheree Andrea. You are doing so well to enter so many contests. Bravo! xxoo

I always remember that line from 'beauty and the beast.' Where the beast asked what he should bring to Bell. Flowers, candy and promises you don't intend to keep. Well penned my friend. Have a great day.

Fake promises are designed to appear so truthful!!! The wise don't fall for them. Well written!!

I learnt this style from you...I have only done it once...Glad to see you did it...Anything with would and could or the if conditional...are empty promises...

Well said, Andrea. So many empty promises cross our paths--but sometimes there is real one; and that restores our faith in humanity.

Well said Andrea. Many single young men of full of promises they never intend to keep. That's why it pays the single young woman to be wary. Nicely penned. I like it a lot. God Bless, JB

ha! Maybe you are right about that. I knew the young guy very well though. It was not like he was a stranger to me!

Well Andrea, you ARE special. But like your mother warned you, always be wary of taking candy (or island trips) from strange men, haha. I wish you all the best in the Promise contest, you are the resident expert at etherees! ~ John
