- More Than A Soft Toy -

My teddy bear is antique
He has lived a long life
and is a bit worn
Despite its appearance
there is never any doubt
on who owns him

I got it from my grandmother
when I was born
The cradle of nostalgia
unforgettable memories
He has been with me all my life
and is my best friend

The teddy bear is made of soft
and lovely fabric
that feels wonderful to hug and cuddle

My cuddly teddy bear has been
absolutely invaluable through thick and thin
It is my emotional anchor
when anxiety or sad thoughts appear

A soft toy ? - ... significantly much more

Your piece is heartfelt and gently nostalgic. The connection to your grandmother adds warmth, and the final line lands with quiet power. It’s a tender tribute to enduring comfort—simple, sincere, and emotionally resonant. Lovely work.

Very touching and descriptive with quite a genuine, straightforward feel. I read these and wonder which ones are biographical (believe it or not, mine was.) Poetry hugs ... CayCay

The revisions Soup made led to glitches, most they worked out it seems, but the number of reads is, my best guess, one that remains. I'm sure they'll get it, be nice to know that you didn't really get only one comment from a million readers!!!!

Best of luck in contest. An adorable sensitive write. looks like a Steiff. Precious photo. They are wonderful companions. Even grown men like them. We had an old mink coat, no one wears them anymore, preferring not to wear the skins of murdered animals. Seeing how she makes teddy bears from scratch, we dismantled, and she made me one. He is precious. As she is often too busy sewing, he is my next dearest company. I think it is a he, anyway.
