More Than a Pet

They say dog is man's best friend;
That's exactly what you are.
Just a few hours ago, you were taken away,
By the driver of that car.
They didn't stop, they didn't care,
They just kept going on.
They don't know my heart is broken,
Because my best friend is gone.
To most, you were just a dog,
You were just our family pet;
To me, Cheyenne, you were a friend,
More special than the rest.
You always knew when I felt bad,
You were always by my side.
Without you here, I just feel lost;
Nothing at all feels right.
It's weird not to hear you bark,
Or watch your tail wag up and down;
Things are already so much different,
Now that you're not around.
They say all dogs go to heaven,
I know that may be true.
But, Cheyenne, you're more than just a dog;
My best friend, I love and miss you.

Tiffany, I've lost a few special pets in my time. If you haven't read it yet, you need to search for the "Rainbow Bridge" poem. It's really consoling. It has helped me through some losses of God's little creatures... Jake

Some of the very best friends I've ever had have been dogs. They got me thru some hard times... and they are ALWAYS there for you with devotion. I'm sure your dog led a great life because of you... Another one is surely waiting some where out there... for some one as appreciative and loving as you. Some one needs you... Great and touching write. Sorry for your loss...

So sad Tiffany, yes a dog is man's best and most loyal friend. A dog is like a family member, that's always there. Never sour and grumpy, always a hug or a "dog kisses". Lost an old dog for 2 years and it does still hurt. Now we have a new one: a girl named "Maya". Lovely poem in memory of your pet. oxox / / Anne-Lise :)

Dogs and cats deserve to live longer because they are so close to humans. A sad, but nice write you have here.

A beautiful dedication. I'm so sorry for your loss, Tiffany. Our pets do become an irreplaceable part of our family. Hugs to you, Rhonda
