More Or Less

I want more More time to do more More this and more that Someone told me less is more What do you think of that If I had more money I could buy more stuff If I had more things would it be enough I'd eat more have an extra scoop At the other end there'd be more poop If I'm more smelly I might have less friends but I guess it depends They may want more More from me More generosity More trips more insanity More hands out More questioning what I see I'd have to be more careful More intelligent More astute The more I'd have The more I'd pollute So instead Do I want less Yes less Less time away from home Less using my iPhone Less stress So it seems less is more More or less I need more time to confess So I can be less of a mess and more of a man More and different Better than I am More importantly I'd be blessed Having less Is a test So that when I have more My own greed is addressed I won't care who's impressed I'll give to those in need the ones who need more Because sometimes Less is just less Those with more should help clean up the mess So in the end Less or more More or less Be your best Don't forget who you are Either way be a blessing and be blessed.

Interesting, believe it or not I posted a poem with same title but taking a different approach. I like the words you chose to make it so effective and real in way easy to relate to. It also flows well. Best regards David in NZ

I agree w/the other fine poetesses/poets, Richard. This is a beautiful poem to read to start the new year. So meaningful, so intellectually engaging. Great food for thought. This is yet another classic, in my humble opinion, by your talented pen. I was very intrigued by the title. I have a poem titled the same. I posted it when I first came to PSoup, so it's in the early writes. Love the ending, the cherry on top is always a treat after a good eat. Love and joy to you, my poetic friend.

Richard, this is quite wonderful, I seem to be like that always wanting more stuff, more more but in reality that is so self centered ..we have to look beyond self to be truly happy within.

I guess it's part of the human condition, that desire for more.

If you cry out for less you get more- law of opposites comes into play. Lately I've cried out to be penniless and guess what? Yep, now I HAVE OVER 5,000 PENNIES...!!!! Joking aside, your creation, thought provoking and a pleasure to read my friend.

Ha ha, those pennies do add up, unless you are in Canada and pennies have all but dissapeared. Instead of pennies I've decided to collect one hundred dollar bills. Do you have any extra ones to add to my collection???

This! I have for the first time in my life a home, I celebrated a first Christmas. Is that much? Or not? I don't know, it is enough. I will never forget where I come from. I like this, the diving deep into what is less and what is more and what does it do.

I do believe I was at my happiest when I had less, and nowadays I am at my happiest when I give, so yes -Less of what is not important in my life is more of what truely matters. Fantastic poem Rick.

Thanks Charmaine. May you have more of what matters and less of the things that harm you (unless they are required to bring you closer to God's plan for your life.)
