More Is Less
All around the world Catholics and others will vow
To make a commitment to change themselves somehow
Usually by giving up some guilty pleasure
Or perhaps an activity you really treasure
I for one decided differently in years past
To add things not deny, then try to make it last
You see, by adding a trait, you actually lose
And that is a lesson you can begin to use
To vow to be kinder, you will lose that mean streak
To measure your words, and not do harm when you speak
To slow down and enjoy, not ignore those you meet
To stop and pray, not race thru each morning you greet
You see, forty days can change you, a habit make
Add more joy, discard pain in your life for God’s sake.
