Monsters
Never look in a stranger's eyes,
for evil, there may dwell.
Never stare into the dark,
or pull away the veil.
Never walk alone among the stones,
for the dead may not be resting.
Never tell your secrets among the wolves,
for your virtue may be tested.
One never knows what evil lurks,
behind the velvet curtain.
One never knows what pain awaits
where the dream and hell unite.
No-one knows what monsters hide,
in the closets of the mind.
No-one knows what fate will bring,
once we cross the line.
Never trust a stranger's smile,
or the secrets hidden there.
Never let yourself be fooled,
into thinking someone cares.
The words you spoke by candlelight,
invoke the darkest fiends.
What once you took as prayer,
awakened the obscene.
The monsters are among us,
preying on the weak.
Their words may ring of beauty,
but death is what they seek.
The monsters are within us,
fed by our dark desire.
Our mortal souls are kindling,
that lights an eternal fire.
