Claude Monet - Water Lilies, 1916 Art Print

Monet in 1893 acquired a house in Giverny with a garden that sloped down to a river it is here that he laid out a flower garden and a pond with waterlilies floating and a Japanese bridge these became his favorite subjects to paint as the interplay of water and sun always created new impressions depending on the time of day the season and weather Monet's abstract swirls and strokes forms gentle flowing water drifting lilies and glimmering reflections the blues and greens mingling in beauty that is eternal ______________________ April 22, 2022 Poetry/Ekphrasis/Monet's Waterlilies Copyright Protected, ID 04-1450-302-22 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, A Brian Strand Choice sponsor, Brian Strand, Judged 04/25/2022 First Place

Monet's work is so distinctive, I particularly like the waterlilies. I sometimes look at a painting and it gives me the inspiration to write a poem. Lots of information hidden away within the poem for the readers to enjoy.

There is a lesson we use in our school once a year that involves showing this special artwork of Monet. It's so magical. Great ekphrasis on it, Dear Heart.
