Notes About The Poem

*Example for my contest- Also, this is dedicated to my mom whose been gone almost thirty-five years.

Momma's Ditty

Sometimes
Alone
I've sat
And thought,
About
Just this
And that

I think
About
A lot
Of things,
My wife
My life
My cat

Today
I thought
About
Someone,
Who floods
My eyes
With tears

I know
You know
It's you
Mother,
I've missed
You all
These years

Never stop missing our parents, for me it's Daddy, Mom is still here though mentally fading. Your poem touched my Moma parts (I know I spell Moma wrong), no love like Moma love. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Hope somehow, your mom knows you wrote this wonderful tribute to her. I have a piece my son wrote to me and I treasure it dearly. Anxious to see if I can try your new form.

Excited to try one, Charles. This was a wonderful tribute. I lost my when I was young. It's nice to remember her from time to time, in one form or another.

Oh, Charlie. That is so beautiful! Maybe your mom looked down from somewhere and saw it, or found it in your heart.

This is beautiful, Charles—simple in structure but so emotionally rich. The pacing makes each word hit harder, and the dedication to your mother is incredibly moving. A lovely tribute and a unique form that really works. Can’t wait to see what your contest inspires!

Dear Charlie, this is such a tender and heartfelt poem. It gently captures the quiet moments when memories rise unannounced and love lingers, even through the years. The simplicity of the lines makes it all the more moving—like a whisper from the heart. Your mother would feel every word, as do we...Hugs

Hi Sara, thanks for your visit :) Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom is gone almost 35 years and every time I do the cooking around here, I think of her mostly because it's her recipe's that I use, and I do a lot of cooking (lol). Hugs
