Modern Goodbyes
You see the bags
they’re full of clothes
they’re waiting for him right by the door
you try to reason
he hears you not
you beg and plead
but he says "that’s enough"
you wonder how it came to this
where did the love go in the relationship
but right now, you don’t really care
you just want to stop him from going out there
into a world where you two are no more
So you say: "This can’t be happening
it can’t be true
you can’t be leaving me for someone new”
But he is
he’s really leaving
and as this happens
you feel like screaming:
"Don’t go,
don’t leave me here so full of tears”
But away he walks as if not to hear
he reaches the door and turns to say:
"Stop your crying
give it a rest
can’t you see
that you’re a mess”
But you say: "No I won’t,
I won’t stop my cry
not until you say
its all a lie!!”
But he just looks her straight in the eye
without a cry and just replies:
"Face it and don’t cry
I just left you
for another guy
So goodbye”
