Never seen a mockingbird before, Sara, I'm sure they must be as interesting as your haiku describes:)

Jo, They are very distinctive in the design and coloring but due to their coloring they probably blend into the surrounds very well. They are very protective of their nest, young, and territory. I appreciate the time spent here reading and commenting on my work. Sara

Gershon," And each separate _dying_ ember wrought its ghost upon the floor." That was an interesting work by Edgar Allen Poe. I like his "Annabelle Lee" a little more but some of his works are outstanding. He was a gifted poet. Your visit inspires me. Sara

Don't know too much about mocking birds but a murder of crows is not a welcome sight however from what I read below they are not afraid to defend themselves and their own when these revengeful crows appear. Lovely Haiku Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

Thank you, Jennifer. If you ever observed a mockingbird, you would understand their personalities. LOL.. One day on a busy street in a large city, a mockingbird was attacking everyone that walked down the street because it(they male and female) had built a nest in a small tree right on that busy street. Someone had seen it and filmed it then it was shown on the news on TV. Brave, aggressive and protective of their nest, progeny, and mate. Thanks for the visit. Your comments are supportive. Sara

Phred, I am glad you liked it; however it is not the best example of a Haiku. I am sure that you will find some better examples on here and on the internet. Your visit was uplifting. Sara

I do like those mockingbirds though. I have had a family of them around here a long time. They used to build a nest either in the Holly bush or in the rose trellis. I sit and wonder how they get in and out without getting stuck by thorns or sticky holly leaves? Thanks for the delightful visit. Sara

I found your poem interesting. Never muder of a crow. I guess mocking birds can hold there own with a crow. Enjoyed ~ Debra

I have seen a mockingbird chasing a single crow in flight. Crows can fly higher and longer so I think the crow would win, but at least the mockingbird puts up a good fight for territory. Your visit was delightful. Sara

Bill, We have some that come around here and hang around because my husband plants some corn in the spring. They love to eat the seed as it pushes through the ground. Your visit was encouraging. Sara

Yeah those crows don't like other birds getting the drink, but mockingbirds can definitely hold their own.

M.L., Those mockingbirds are a tough species. I have seen them chasing a snake on several occasions. Thanks for your visit.
