Mock On, Or Repent
When the serpent in the garden said to Eve, “You shall not surely die,”
He knew to his breast that he was telling her a lie,
But this was his way to get even with God for casting him out,
From the courts of heaven to earth during their first bout.
He wanted to mock God by undermining his authority,
And injecting this trait in all of humanity.
The history of the world bears witness to the fact,
That he was quite successful in employing this tact.
When God asked Cain and Abel sacrifices to make,
He was clear that only an animal sacrifice he would take,
Cain in defiance chose to offer fruits instead,
An evidence that the mocking trait was in his head.
God refused his offering, and Cain got real mad,
And when Abel’s offering was accepted, he was very sad.
But instead of repenting he let the anger boil in his head,
And when it was all over his brother Abel was dead.
Then as evil reached a peak, God send Noah with a message of warning,
But instead of repenting the Antediluvians started mocking,
Until the rain started falling and the deep fountains started flowing,
And except for Noah and his family, they all were dead by drowning.
In the fullness of time God sent His Son with a message of love,
He was anointed for His mission by the descent of a dove,
But instead of repenting the religious leaders resorted to mocking,
And when His preaching they could no longer take, God’s Son they were crucifying.
And what of us who are alive today, at a time when the end is nearing,
When we hear of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, and flooding,
Do we find their frequency and prevalence to be shocking,
Or do we just shrug our shoulders and then resort to mocking.
Citizens of the world in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic,
The evidence that our world is nearing an end is seismic,
Would you heed God’s message of warning and start repenting,
Or would you choose instead to keep on mocking?
Whatever your choice the consequences are clear,
God’s message of warning is loud enough for all to hear,
Follow Satan and his mocking and reap a fiery destiny
Or choose Christ as your Savior and enjoy life for eternity.
