Trionet
Created by L Milton Hankins, a Trionet is a two stanza poem. The first stanza follows the rules for a standard triolet of eight (8) lines ABaAabAB (capital letters are repeated lines). The second stanza consists of six (6) lines, formed with five (5) lines repeated from the first stanza and adding an appropriate non-repeated rhyming last line with a rhyme scheme of AAABBb.
Dawn pierces the ebony heart of night,
its blood spilled onto alabaster clouds.
As scarlet skies fade with the morning light,
Dawn pierces the ebony heart of night,
and shy shadows slowly slink out of sight
The horizon wrapped in misty pink shrouds,
Dawn pierces the ebony heart of night,
blood spilling onto alabaster clouds.
Dawn pierces the ebony heart of night,
as scarlet skies fade with the morning light
and shy shadows slowly slink out of sight.
The horizon wrapped in misty pink shrouds,
its blood spilled onto alabaster clouds
the sun rises, to the acclaim of crowds.
