Mist and Fog

Love thou art but mist and fog
shadows and rainbows
a wondrous illusion
appearing close enough to touch
yet to distant to grasp
luring me with low whispers
and seductive smiles
compelling me to once more
leap into thy arms
longing for the warmth of thine embrace
that I have been so long without
only to find myself hurtling
into the void of hopelessness and despair
all the while reaching for you..
