Missions of Today: Autumn's Long Shadow
Missions of Today
(Autumn’s Long Shadow)
Autumn shows long shadows but not at night
The sun doesn’t shine as much through the day
For the evening comes without much light
Cool air comes through fooling no one alright
It’s the lamps that move one’s eyes right away
Autumn shows long shadows but not at night
Love combs the tombs of a man’s only fright
As leaves creep between the trees bleak sleek sway
For the evening comes without much light
No one said that the heart could slow with might
As more Fall calms the cool waves near the bay
Autumn shows long shadows but not at night
The clocks don’t move as far over the right
Words can’t express just what we want to say
For the evening comes without much light
True measures showing of her seasons bright
Hearts shower towards those missions of today
Autumn shows long shadows but not at night
For the evening comes without much light
