There isn’t a day that goes past when mum doesn’t mention your name Mum is an elderly lady now yet she still refers to you as ‘mummy’ It’s understandable ... she was only eight when you passed away from breast cancer I look at your photograph in its silver frame Oh how I would have loved to have met my maternal grandma... I was envious of my friends Going to tea with granny Or doing something exciting I feel I missed out so much as a child Mum tells me you had a fabulous sense of humour and I’ve since discovered you wrote poetry as did my aunt and uncle I guess it is in my blood and that one day I was destined to pick up my pen and write I only wish I could have met you ... Who would you bring back Poetry Contest Sponsored by Caren Krutsinger 10/11/18

A wonderful memory of your grandmother. I had a grandmother who also wrote poetry, on my Dad's side and her husband was an artist and photographer; she died a few weeks after having my Dad though. I wish I could have known her. This brought back memories of great stories I've heard about both of them. Thanks

A big fat Len Goodman for this piece Jan I absolutely love it. My Dad used to write poetry and he died before I ever got the chance to share any of mine with him . I would have loved to know what he would have thought. Honesty I think everything I write is inspired or for him .

I think tragedies in ones life often are the catalyst for picking up one's pen or doing something creative - my friend lost a son to suicide, she does crafting:-) hugs jan xx

I think my Dad dying of Cancer inspired mine sadly but I would gladly give it all up if it would bring him back but it wont. No point in wasting time that's exactly what he would have said.Cheers Ta

aww thanks for sharing Christopher. I now know where my poetry genes come from, it just took my hubby's cancer surgery for me to pick up my pen. How i wish i could have met my maternal grandmother, maybe i would have started writing sooner with her to encourage me but sadly it was not to be and now I'm making up for lost time!:-) hugs jan xx

Cheers Jan For me this is the very point or writing. It triggered in me an uncontious thought I knew existed but never connected until reading this and uncovered it. Ta

Oh, Jan....this tugged at my heart so much. I wish that you had those lovely memories. I only have a few of my maternal grandma. It's good to know that you were destined to write thanks to your genes! :) Love you, sweetie. I'm back for a bit. I will have a busy week coming, but will try my best to catch up next weekend. Hugs

Thanks for dropping by Eileen - I can wrote the odd serious poem, this really does tug at my heartstrings as mum always talks about her 'mummy' every single day. I just wish she'd lived, mum's early life would have been so so much happier she had a wicked step mother who was vile to mum and adored her little sister and then there was a further step mother when she died:-( hugs jan xx

Hi Jan, such a lovely, heartfelt write that has sung from your heart. A beautiful tribute. Your more serious work does rate as highly as your humorous work. You let your heart speak and emotion sings. An excellent write, as always. May your pen ever run gold. Have a wonderful Friday. Hugs....Mike. XX
