Missing You

Missing you Desperate as a fish out of water Struggling to breathe I need you like heartbeat Aching with constant pounding My pulse reverberating my soul Echoing another dimension Will it reach another living being? Will it reach you? Can it travel the distance to your world? Missing you As the absence of gloves on a cold winter’s day Wanting you more than warmth Yearning for you to fill the chilled void inside This blanket wrapped around me Cannot replace the heat from your Love I am fire without flame An unlit candle Burning for a match To ignite my hungry heart Missing you Lightening without thunder I can’t hear myself think For the essence of sound has escaped me I have nothing to hold onto Clutching myself for consolation Hands pressed against my breasts Congested with my own suffocating paranoia Lacking the presence of you Missing you I am a desolate desert drought Thirsting for water My movements are dry I have no motivation As you are my only source of inspiration But I am lost in this world without you near I am discarded dreams Left to die Missing you To the utmost extreme Missing you And all that I know And I know you better than the back of my hand Mapped out in my mind Our lives intertwined Despite the distance between us I recall holding your hand It was like finding my missing piece Suddenly everything made sense Now my eyes read vacancy Until I hold you close again

Your impassioned, poignant and poetic lines are enthralling, Julie. You express your beautifully sad emotions very artistically; 'I am fire without flame an unlit candle burning for a match to ignite my hungry heart' and 'Missing you lightening without thunder I can't hear myself think for the essence of sound has escaped me' - achingly expressive imagery throughout your excellent Free Verse! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
