Notes About The Poem

for Nette Onclaud's Finish In Ten Poetry Contest/ posted July 2, 2026

Mirror of Morning

In the ripples of a lake when I waken at dawn’s break, a slice of lemon light I see cutting through the water blue. It gifts me solace with its sweet tranquility. Autumn’s hues fall brightly too alongside sun’s long yellow line inside this reservoir. I reflect on your love that once was mine and wonder – as always – where you are.

Congratulations dear poetess on your placement in this contest with a lovely poem on the lake, shining with beautiful imagery. A cute ending with the lake serving as a medium to reflect on past love. Wish you a lovely day.

Back with congratulations on your winning work. Way to go. Now when I think about someone who I once knew who might have pursued me, I wonder if he is deceased now. Sara K.
