Mirror - Contest

Being born of privilege came with certain expectations; life was planned, The silver spoon had been placed at the mouth by a single command. Superiority was the chosen station and vocation, Inferiority was frowned upon in each generation. No one questioned what they were ordered to do, If it meant jump or kill, they followed through; a loyal crew. But the things taught crumpled when when a crimson fluid flowed out, A stray arrow hit an expected target; as he fell, there was a loud shout. All in the company of the unexpected fled, leaving the badly wounded to die, However, strolling through the woods dark brown eyes couldn't pass by. He saw light blue eyes and showed compassion nursed him back to health; Hearts and souls were connected; it It didn't matter if one had wealth. Preconceived opinions died, brothers were born that day, An unbreakable tie and bond until death was made; respect had its say. Judging another harshly without merit It makes no sense. However, being taught such things since birth is valid argument even its free of common sense. But what if everything thing one was taught was untrue, and a lie? When one comes face to face with the truth, they must break the tie. The lie crumbles, no matter how valid it looked at first, Stand up for truth even if you have been coerced. We are the same, in the eyes of God, the notion that we are not, Are lies given to us masquerading as truth and a misguided plot. We must not judge another, lest we judge the person in the mirror, It is like indirectly passing judgment on self; get to know thyself to see clearer. We are connected linked together; we're part of the same tribe-called Homosapien; Even if the color of your skin is Asian, Native American, Latin, African or Afro American, Middle Eastern, or European. When this is realized upon self-discovery, one can observe the reflection in the mirror, And see the one starring back is you, and your perception of your reflection is much clearer. *Homosapien- Early modern human or anatomically modern human are terms used to distinguish *****sapiens that are anatomically consistent with the range of phenotypes seen in contemporary humans from extinct archaic human species. 01/18/2021 Contest: Non-Judgemental Eye Sponsor: Unseeking Seeker

Well told story. I agree with Line about your "fable-like" approach. It drew me in and I wanted to know what happened in this tale with a medieval flavor supported by a battle fought with bow and arrow. Congratulations Alexis.

Enjoyed your powerful piece on how mirrors actually work, Alexis... So many times we look, but don't see, or only see what we want to see... Truth in life is not easily arrived at. Kudos to you for seeking it! Best wishes always, Gershon
