Miracle

MIRACLE!

Now hear sports prime time
“Amazing! Spectacular!”
Just two of the words
“Hey! You gotta be kiddin’”
Does he know how to play ball!”

“One of the greatest”
Some say he IS the greatest!”
Just incredible!”
“Bob that’s some kinda atha-lete!”
“Three hundred pounds of muscle”

“It’s a miracle!”
“You mean HE’S a miracle”
“He’s at the fifty –
Forty thirty twenty-five
Reverses field at the five
STUPENDOUS RUN A TOUCHDOWN!”

WHAT AN ATHA-LETE!”
The magic words spilling forth
At top of his lungs
Had you pressed the mute button
Just another game

But the fans love noise
The roar will deaden the mind
Loudmouth has said squat
Has stated the obvious
Big mouth says “Watch but don’t think”
....................................................................................................

I am an avid football fan - especially college football - the poem is not about disliking football, but about some - not all - of the brainless announcers.

Fun write, Daver, can almost hear those annoying announcers. My son is an avid hockey fan....AND HE SCORES!!! I suppose fans aren't supposed to see, and surely by the end of the night some will be deaf? Thanks for the comment! Were you picking on a defenseless clam?...about to feed it to Freud? I reread the poem and could see he'd have a hayday with that write.:( Wishing you the best, Daver!! Love, Mikki

Dave, I'm sure thousands feel the same way you do...most times they are just distractions and if you let them, they steal some of your fun! Go Steelers! Haha! Love, Annalise

Sometimes I turn the sound off so I can enjoy the game more, Daver. Of course I turn it on again when they're explaining the penalties. When you're watching from the stands, the roar of the crowd can be a lot of fun -- not so much when you're watching on TV. Go Green Bay! Love, Carolyn

I am like Sara and only watch a few sports but they have to be short. No time to sit and watch 3 hours of sports and I think sports is a waste when money can go to so many needy projects. Not watching some yahoo run down the sideline or run to a base or putt a silly ball in a hole plus pay them money for it. Are we nuts or what?
