Switching channels, trying to stay on top
Mannings and Favre are the cream of the crop

Afraid to miss a single great play
Is this how a lady should spend her Sunday?

Vikings fans stand up and cheer
Purple and gold are winning this year

Look like dem Saints gonna 'Brees' (Understood?)
No more bags, no more 'Ain'ts" (Better knock on some wood!)

Not much success for the Tampa Bay Bucs
But faithful fans are still wishing them luck

The Giants appear to be bouncing back
Eli and team mates try to regain their track

Great quarterbacks like Luckman and Tittle
Let's hope our Giants remain "fit as a fiddle"

Touchdowns and field goals get fans outta their seats
While I scream and applaud, my cheerleading repeats

Reviews and replays are part of this game
As great football legends, their names shall remain

Let's get ready to watch game of football.
It's the number one game to watch in the fall.

Choose a team that will be a winner.
Watch the game just before dinner.

Oklahoma sooners is my team who's yours?

Many thanks to the football fans who contributed, including Linda-Marie Bariana, Karen
O'Leary, Tim Ryerson, Matthew Annish and Teresa Skyles (the Sooner fan!).

Premium Member Longing For September

football season's over,
the fans are feelin' down;
nothing but vacant memories,
no more football to be found!

whether it's college or the pros,
no more gatherings in the den;
the offseason's torturous,
i'll miss my beer-bellied friends!

no more mondays on the sofa,
after a stressful day at the job;
the "hooplah" tragically ceases,
while our hearts painfully throb!

so long to all the bowl games,
weekends are such a bore;
take us home to september,
where football lives once more!

Touch Down!!

Yellin'
Screamin'
Shoutin' out your lungs!
It's the time of year when eveyone's
havin' football fun!
They throw the ball,
the crowd goes wild,
the players all run,
while the sideliners,
are jumpin' in their team's colors!
They tackle the wrong guy,
While the other guy flies by!
He falls on the zone,
He did it on his own,
The team screams, runs on the field,
and thank goodness the stands are made of steel.
The crazies' run on the field, painted all over,
the boa's, the wigs,the goofieballness,
TWEET!
The ref is glad that they've had their fun, but the day has a setting sun!
The crowd moves off, and they pray.....
The kick the field goal.........
HE MADE IT!!!
HORRRAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Yellin'
Screamin'
Shoutin' out your lungs!
It's the time of year when eveyone's
havin' football fun!

Premium Member Miracle

MIRACLE!

Now hear sports prime time
“Amazing! Spectacular!”
Just two of the words
“Hey! You gotta be kiddin’”
Does he know how to play ball!”

“One of the greatest”
Some say he IS the greatest!”
Just incredible!”
“Bob that’s some kinda atha-lete!”
“Three hundred pounds of muscle”

“It’s a miracle!”
“You mean HE’S a miracle”
“He’s at the fifty –
Forty thirty twenty-five
Reverses field at the five
STUPENDOUS RUN A TOUCHDOWN!”

WHAT AN ATHA-LETE!”
The magic words spilling forth
At top of his lungs
Had you pressed the mute button
Just another game

But the fans love noise
The roar will deaden the mind
Loudmouth has said squat
Has stated the obvious
Big mouth says “Watch but don’t think”
....................................................................................................

I am an avid football fan - especially college football - the poem is not about disliking football, but about some - not all - of the brainless announcers.

Sunday Football

Sunday Football

Winning prospect nears
Sunday football cheers
Men folk gather ‘round
Women, also found.
All are TV bound.

Who gets the ball?
Heads wins the call.
Captains’ close-up!
Energy pumped.

The coin toss…
No team scoffs.
The kick-off!

Teams play.
Dreams stay.

Game…

Poetic form: Dimished Hexiverse

Jack the Lad

A football you've followed the whole of your life,
From centre to goal... and missing it twice.
But this vice it seemed needed a rest,
So it eyed your feet close and selected the left.

The guilty from accounts was a bit of a prat,
But he helped with the ambulance, so we'll give him that!
A phone call you made, so calm and composed,
None of your pain and worry did it disclose.

In mud you lay for an hour instead,
As the ambulance was rescued from the mud hence.
Dosed up and examined you were retired to bed,
Prepped for surgery and occasionally fed.

Certainly fed up was what you became,
With nothing to do and your ward so plain.
But texts and e mails we received,
To come and see you, and your boredom relieve.

What fun we had making a fuss,
With Bless ya's and How's and chocolate a must.
Your tale you recounted many a time,
To family and friends, but staying modest in mind.

But now we leave you to recover,
The football reality, for now just virtual,
But as you adapt to the stairs and we tease you so,
We're glad your ok, and love you really you know!!
