Midsummer Breeze How may I extol a midsummer breeze? As soft as rose petals in cooling wind That flutters leaves upon the verdant trees, And endeavors to make the blossoms blend From blooming boughs whose wistful petals drift In a mélange of hues that blankets grounds In vivid masterpiece of summer's gift, Sharing red rose’s splendor that abounds. Ten summers have passed since we said good-bye. The son you never knew still causes tears As evening shadows fill this twilight sky, Through him I've loved you more all of these years. Soon all is hushed in shadow's silhouette When moonrise turns blue skies to violet 7-29-18 Not Just Any Old Rose Poetry Contest. ~Poem of the Day Jul 31, 2018~ Sponsor: Mark Massey ~7th placement premier contest~

Such a gorgeous collection of summer images, Connie. "In a mélange of hues", and "vivid masterpiece" take a saddening turn towards shadows, silhouettes, and sadness. The day ends, the moon rises, and the sky turns violet. Stunning poetry, my friend, I can see why it was honored with POTD.

Ahh hearty CONGRATS on this exquisite poem, awesome in imagery and poetic and soulful touches. Flows delicately like the gentle breeze it talks of. Sory if it sounds too personal, why u say a son u never knew?. It's ok if u don't answer though. Warmest wishes.

Oh, so beautiful, Connie! Each line is filled with amazing imagery and the poem takes a more personal tone when speaking of your son. That couplet at the end is brilliant. Congratulations on your POTD, my friend. You could have entered this in the "Summer Breeze" contest as well. Surely, a fave for me! Love, Carolyn

The part about the son is fictional Carolyn. I hope it makes it on the list. My Dawn poem got an N/A. There were just too many outstanding entries. Poor Emile...I bet he really struggled picking his winners. Thank you so much for the fave. xxoo : )
