Midnight Interlude

I see in your eyes a tenderness
that can only come from a love
as true as the moonlight that bathes us
on this warm summer’s night;
a warmth that has somehow
melted the bitter cold
which had caged
my heart for so long,
touching a place deep inside of me
that has been touched by no one before.

You slowly trace the outline
of my face and I feel
a sensuous heat radiate
from your fingertips,
penetrating my entire body.
I breathe deep,
inhaling the fragrance of your existence
far into the depth of my yearning soul,
afraid to exhale for fear of losing
the memory of its exquisiteness.

I close my eyes and feel the brush
of your lips against mine,
so soft that my mind questions
the reality of such a gentle kiss.
After a moment I taste the urgency,
realizing this is more than a dream
as we desperately fulfill the demand of
our most intimate needs
until the exhaustion from our passion
is more than we can bear.

Our thirst for each other now quenched,
and the intensity of the moment diminished,
a calmness takes over
taming our emotions.
We barely hear the church bell
as it chimes in the midnight hour,
for still cradled in the nakedness
of each other’s love;
we descend
into a peaceful sleep.

Thank you for your kind words Gershon. Passion comes in many forms, this is only one. It is passion that fills our life with excitement, challenges, and wonderful memories. Thank you again. Ron
