Middle of the Road

Sometimes I wish
I could be more
middle-of-the-road;
with my politics
with my music
with my writing--
but, then, the question arises,
which neighborhood?
And would that road
be, public or private?

For all centers
are not in the same direction;
none of them a constant--
not even the dead 
left to rest,
recycled into
God knows what?

Middle of the road is ok, but surely those with an open mind would take the road less travelled? I think and feel "middle of the road" actually are not open minded, they just sit on the fence and 'view' rather than 'do'. Joseph P. If only those roads we are on would stay in one place:)
