Middle of the Road

Sometimes I wish I could be more middle-of-the-road; with my politics with my music with my writing-- but, then, the question arises, which neighborhood? And would that road be, public or private? For all centers are not in the same direction; none of them a constant-- not even the dead left to rest, recycled into God knows what?

...I don't know about 'balance' - I think 'compromise' is the key. Middle of the road is ok, but surely those with an open mind would take the road less travelled? I think and feel "middle of the road" actually are not open minded, they just sit on the fence and 'view' rather than 'do'.

This poem is great, obviously, it makes a person get all feisty...lol, well that's if you are not 'middle of the road'. No way middle of the road - that's road kill.

I think middle of the road is fine, normally does not offend others... Well expressed Joe.. middle of the road people are normally more open minded..

For sure; the downside is, they can be too pliable, and lacking individuality. As you say, balance is the secret. If only those roads we are on would stay in one place:)
