Message From the Raven

Oh Raven, Raven where were thee,
Flying high? On the ground? In a fruit filled tree?
I'd hoped and hoped that you'd appear
to give me proof that you were safe, you were near.

Then all of a sudden there you were
so robust, fit of feather, Raven black for sure.
I had prayed so hard you'd show yourself
and finally this sight of you made my heart melt.

But in an instant you were gone again
up into the sky and into the wind,
Then you circled back when I cried "please don't go"
as if you had something to let me know.

Over my head you gracefully flew
returning and cawing and I instantly knew
when you settled into the top of a nearby tree
that you had a message to deliver to me:

That you can glide and soar and catch any breeze,
that you're not gone....you're happy, flourishing and oh so free,
That you were here to renew and etch into my memory
a reminder that our special love will last for all eternity.
